As digital technology improves every day, oceans of images and information originally confined to the digital environment gradually become part of our quotidian existence. The newly developed technologies in the fields of VR, AR and MR have transformed human beings into cyborgs. Our chance of living in a totally digitalized environment is getting higher. The boundary between the real and the virtual will be blurred insofar as to make the two worlds no longer distinguishable.
Artist
Jing-Yao Lin is a composer and new media artist. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from the Department of Music and his MFA from the Department of New Media Art, Taipei National University of the Arts, Lin earned his doctoral degree from the Graduate Institute of Networking and Multimedia, National Taiwan University. He was the winner of the Hong Kong Dance Awards for Outstanding Stage Design in 2012. His oeuvre encompasses multimedia, installation, theater, and music. In addition to continuing his artistic creation, Lin currently works as a post-doctoral fellow at É cole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris.
