An electromagnet makes coins jump inside bottles in this interactive technology artwork. The bottles are arrayed on the wall and are linked to real-time Internet currency exchange rates. The coins make unique sounds as they roll around in the bottles in response to rate fluctuations.
Exchange rates jump up and down by the second, just like the prancing coins in the bottles. People’s hearts jump along with each rise and fall of dollar values. Innocence, joy, emotion and passion are all overpowered by the sounds of reality, leaving only the obsession to compare and an empty body. However, while we enjoy the silvery clinks of coins, we detest the industrial noise of working machines—behind the face of sheer beauty there lies imperfection.
