Hyper Voice is an interactive installation exploring human voice communication. Communication is the exchange of thoughts and feelings between two or more individuals, between individuals and collective groups, and between individuals and the society. From the more primitive word of mouth and gramophone, to the more advanced landline telephone, technological development and progress has pushed voice communication into the wireless phase. Using cell phone as the medium, Hyper Voice records human voice, broadcasts it through connected devices and visualizes it on a screen to display the connection between the informational context of voice and time.
While interacting with the installation, visitors may choose to record their own voice using cell phone, or they could play out previous recordings. By hearing voice messages left by other visitors or by recording new messages, visitors affect the content of the next recording. Thus voice messages are all linked.
As the time of recording varies, messages are associated with one another in a non-linear way. As more visitors participate in the interaction, sound tracks continue to accumulate. Broadcasts and noises on-site are also recorded. As a result, recordings are products of human voice communication involving different participants delivering different contents at different points in time.
