We believe that design, technology, and environmental protection can complement each other and become a robust line that guides humankind into a correct direction. In recent years, the technology of 3D printing extensively discussed in Western countries serves as the most powerful evidence for our belief. In the process of 3D printing, the additive manufacturing can minimize the waste of materials. Besides, the materials used in 3D printing can be recycled and therefore are environmental friendly. From a designer’s perspective, this new tool facilitates the emergence of ideas and fosters a closer relationship between creativity and reality. With the previous procedure of design and production, we are unable to get a concrete product until a third-party manufactures it. The technology of 3D printing significantly changes this procedure. In this April, The Economist even predicted that 3D printing will bring about the third wave of industrial revolution.
Before the technology of 3D printing is extensively discussed, we have devoted considerable efforts and time to study the RepRap project and produced the 3D printer on our own. During the long course of study, we fully realized that the combination of design, technology, and environmental protection will provide us with strong power to put our ideas into practice. Based on our deep affection for Taiwan, it is very important to promote 3D printing and share our studies with the public. Accordingly, we integrate a printer with a recycle machine, carry them with a tricycle, and then cruise in Taipei City. At the moment when public environmental awareness prevails, we expect the citizens to experience this trend, participate in the brand new design procedure, and thereby kindle their interest in design.
