Mesh Pen

A pen-holder delicately serves as the interface between a hand and a refill. Accordingly, it becomes the subject of this work. Mesh is a commonly seen element in digital production. It is also a basic unit adopted to discompose freeform and curved surfaces. It provides excellent visual permeability that allows us to observe the way in which the pen-holder sets the refill. Also, its streamlined shape provides the user with a comfortable grip. Its openwork structure renders the pen light weight. Its distinctive structure and aesthetic curved profile make it look like a quill pen used during the Renaissance. In concert with a pedestal of the same openwork style, the pen and the pedestal constitute a desktop sculpture. The openwork structure that radiates all around makes it impossible to produce the pen by molding but by additive manufacturing.
