The Legend of Matsuhime

The background of the game’s story is set in Japan’s Warring States period.

The game, as a brainchild of a group of independent developers with strong devotion to games, intends to be free from the “profit-oriented” design of mobile games and to revive the high-quality single player game of earlier periods. In addition, the game mode is not the most lucrative card game recently but the vintage horizontal-scrolling RPG. We want to bring the traditional spirit of game instances in RPG to mobile platforms in the simplest way, so that even general players are able to enjoy the game and get a sense of achievement.

Regarding the art style, we combine pixel art, general electric drawing and particle special effects. The components, props and equipment of battling figures are presented in a vintage playful style by pixel art. The interface is created by processing legally authorized materials. With general electric drawing, we produce backgrounds, splash pages and loading pages. Lastly, particle special effects are used in characters’ stunts. This work employs three different styles cleverly, offering a visual feast distinguishing itself from other works.
