Taiwan Digital Archives Expansion Project is one of the eight major Division Projects of the Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program (TELDAP). The goal is to present the Taiwanese culture, society and natural environment in digital format. Two subprojects are prepared for guiding institutional and individual bodies to the process of digital content (1) ‘Digital Archives Request-for-Proposals Project’ for academic researchers and educational institutions and (2) ‘Exhibition of Cyber Island, Taiwan’ for individual artists and local organic intellectuals. It is our hope that our national digital archives will gain full support from the public and have its content to well present the vitality and beauty of Taiwan.
‘Time丨Light’ Exhibition, Achievement of 2008 Digital Archives Request-for-Proposals Project, is held at Digital Art Center, Taipei, from the 31st of October to the 15th of November 2009. 51 projects selected in 2008 are displayed in this Exhibition. 2008 has been the highest number of projects participated in this Project since 2002. With the great effort of team members from these 51 selected projects, their achievement for the Project over the last year is remarkable. The launch of this Exhibition comes from the idea of ‘Knowledge of Time, Light of Technology’, The achievements of these projects will be presented to our visitors. 5 main themes are presented in this exhibit: ‘Ocean’, ‘Art’, ‘People/the Public’, ‘Sound’, and ‘Print’. Each theme is displayed on the basis of subjectivity and narrative, and allows our visitors to follow them easily.
‘Exhibition of Cyber Island, Taiwan’ shows masterpieces of toughness and diverse culture by renowned photographers, local organic intellectuals, and local artists. Awarded works in the Photography Competition of Memory Spot will also be displayed in this exhibition. Our visitors will gain a new vision or perspective towards the land they are living on by browsing these works at the same time.
Apart from the above mentioned exhibits, there is an interactive area for online fun quizzes to our guests. The concept adopts from one of our TV programs--百萬小學堂(which is similar to the TV program of Who wants to be a millionaire) and challenges knowledge we have. All the questions in the quizzes come from the content of this very Exhibition. This interactive zone helps our visitors to search information and experience the digital content about Taiwan.
