The Aura of Taipei Becoming a Beacon for the World
Taiwan plays a crucial role in the global development of high technology, and as the premier city of Taiwan,
the Neihu Technology Park in Taipei generates 1.8 trillion in revenue annually, and the Nankang Software Park
supports the development of semi-conductor design, digital content and biotech with comprehensive facilities.
The Networked City Project and the Wireless Broadband Deployment promoted by the municipal government has
provided people with a complete information infrastructure. The network penetration of Taipei is the highest density in all of Taiwan.
Facing the ever updating technology, humanism is a guiding principle of technology development. Taiwanese
artists started seeding digital art as earlier as 1985, not only triggering the media revolution but also our
reflecting upon social values. During the past decades, Taiwanese artists have accumulated amazing energy in this field.
Starting from the agenda of Mediacity, artists transformed people's dependence on technology into their artworks
and everyday life products with admirable creativity and artistry. They introduced us, from the framework of construction
to digital content, and beyond time and space, to a new stage of global perspective.
