Big Boy Head

At noon of the Dragon Boat Festival in 1968 in Sankuaicuo, Erbashui (Ershui Township), Babuza (Changhua County), full spikes of rice sway under the billows of sunlight.

The countryside contains a kind of simple vitality. In the hot summer afternoon, the naughty big head boy breaks into a chicken coop and steals eggs from hens, disturbing the originally quiet chicken coop for the custom of standing eggs for blessings during the Dragon Boat Festival.

After going back to the three-section compound, he tries all kinds of ways to stand eggs, but no one succeeds. In a rage, he breaks all the eggs one by one and sneaks sacrificial offerings being used for worship. As he is delightedly eating, it suddenly thunders from the sky, and black clouds become dense. Hens also come to the three-section compound for searching their eggs, but when they see those broken eggs, they fly into a rage. Hens and the big head boy begin a series of chases, and this summer afternoon also becomes unquiet….
