The movie tells the story of a man trapped in an unknown space with 5 doors. He is trying to escape, but the only thing he can do is struggle in every adversity and desire to be set free. The entire work film is in the form of animation and uses the medium of “paper,” via frame piling, creating a style and imaginary world different from computer drawings. It is a totally different style from the pure computer animations. It highlights that handiwork can also connect well with digital works in these digitalized times, and, with an artistic way, it also expresses the struggle, confusion and exploration of life of young students in art universities, artistic way,
In the beginning of animation, all the animations were hand-drawn on animation paper and piled piece by piece to deliver the imaginary world of the animators’ minds. Current animations have already been operated in computers, and depending on the technology of computer graphics, more infinite imaginary world is easily created. But in the meanwhile, did we forget the touching moment when seeing a little, hand-drawn man start walking on the page-number corner as we turn over the pages of our textbook? Consequently, we decided to draw animations in the computer first and then draw our imaginary world on the paper to return back to the primary medium for animation production. This is not only to work on a surface of paper, but to grant the paper with its own life and facial expression, creating the touching moment generated by both computers and men.
