Hide & Treasure
Artist:Yu-chi, Chiu
When I was little, I shuttled among medicine bags, and the adventure by treasure map was thereby started. My brother’s iron toy, Boa, was hidden in the box of polygoni multiflori, and my rabbit was in the one of lycium chinense. Sometimes we forgot where they are, but when dad was filling prescriptions, they would also be found. The forgotten toys become new ones, our new babies again. The filled odor of Chinese herbal medicine on hands recalled my memories from the Little Treasure Hill.
To me, Chinese herbal medicine is a tender existence and memory. This time, it starts from the memories between Chinese herbal medicine and I, pulling out the drawers of medicine and the ones of memories to connect the interactions between everyone and medicine through the images and the sense of smell. When the audience pulls out the drawers, images and music would bring everyone into the drawers of memories. I hope that the distance between everyone and medicine will be pulled closer via these interactions.
Please come close to touch and smell the odor of Chinese herbal medicine in the boxes. There are small notes in the bright drawers, telling the stories of the images with elaborate words. The treasure hidden in the medicine boxes is a great number of memories.
