“Around the Island”

“Around the Island”Author:Guillaume Marmin
Co- author:Philippe Gordiani, Yi-Ping Yang
This multimedia installation tends to look like a stylized island inviting the visitor to discover and modify its environment. Pictures and sounds are directly taken from Taiwan's landscapes to recreate a kind of impressionist cartography. These Medias are juxtaposed to establish a common ground where aesthetic and rhythmic figures are of both emotional and sensory worth.

“Whiskers in Space”

Author:Kerstin Ergenzinger
In Cooperation with Thom Laepple
Whiskers are mechanisms that are sensing and measuring disquietude. Similar to the whiskers of a cat, they serve both as feelers and antennae. The sculptures are connected to sensors that measure the fine air currents in the room. They adopt this noise as their own slightly nervous state of being and mirror and transform the changes in the air currents. At the same time their movement feeds impulses back into its immediate surroundings causing the installation to alternate between feedback and reaction.

“Starry, Starry Night”

Author:Yun-Ju Chen
“Starry, Starry Night”is planned to be presented with 5 spheres installations which will through the internet and the real-time gather the environmental information. The negative and positive will decide to inflate and deflate the installation. Chinese, English, French, German and Japanese will be used on these 5 installations which symbolize the different levels of concerns in different countries. In this work, I try to increase the interactivity with the public. People can key in “350愛地球” and “350Love earth” slogan on their blogs, facebook, and Twitter, these slogan can control the installations. And audience can speak to “350愛地球” and “350Love earth” slogan in the exhibition, and they can control the installation’s lighting effects. But the most important is that by this work I hope aims to raise people’s awareness about our environment.

“LBSkeleton Lite”

“LBSkeleton Lite”
Author:Chih-Chieh Huang

LBSkeleton is a musical interactive installation formed by a robotic structure, biomimetic form, and kinetic entities. It has autonomous behavior with mechanical quality to do some sound performance. This creative idea comes from that human beings do not speak the languages of other species but they can create an interaction with music. Like the interaction between the piper and the snake, through melody, rhythm, strength, a physical conduct can be triggered directly (a slow moving or a simulative reflex behavior.) The default parameters of LBSkeleton are made to interact with string players. Because of a combination of different strings, as well as plucked rhythm and intensity, LBSkeleton’s rhythms of body and changes of light and atmosphere are created. This new form of interaction with music enable audience immerse in the harmonious and augmented musical environment to play and feel music.
