Concealment Space
Every moment is filled with all types of noises. So, which one should we listen to? The noises may clash with each other, or maybe they are in perfect rhyme with each other. How do we listen to those that really lead us? Where would we go from here?

Man is living and struggling in a world of conflicts – internally and externally. He is closely connected with people, events and matters around him. In our own ideal world, we try to create in a vivid way images through our mind. We strive to have other people understand these images in order for them to relate and identify with them. From this we can freely associate and attain artistic power and influence.

Different sounds exist at the same time externally and in our own mind. They will certainly intersect at some point in time, or in some vague areas. To try to watch and listen carefully amid reality and the intangible elements is to awaken our inner aspirations, dreams and yearning. The sounds which are hidden in our concealed space have not been fully released to the outside world, and this is what we want to explore.

Opening Ceremony performance

The musical composition is an original creation of Jing Peng and Shu-Yin Kuo of the Department of Applied Music’s Creative Section. It is written for the “digital interactive installation” produced by “Logico-Studio” so that music and technology interact during the performance. Guang-Xun Ou, Director of Department of Chinese Music; the String Quartet founded by Professor Ji Li of the Department of Music and the O-Kai Singers founded by assistant professor Jia-Qing Lai of the Department of Applied Music have been invited to perform. It would be an exploration of the human character through interaction between musical instruments and music with the machine installation. Also for the event, well-known director Hong-Zheng Fu is also invited to make comprehensive planning with elements of audience interaction added, so as to maximize the impact of the performance.
